Just applied to the FBI as a possible employee or contract translator, probably won't get the job, but since I am mentioning FBI this much they are probably reading my blog!

Moving to Malibu

My AmeriCorp program in California is nearing its end with only 3 weeks left, and we found out today that we will officially be moving against our will to Malibu to a place that we have never been to before. It will be somewhere new but will suck because we are losing our boss and both of our supervisors whom we all like very much. We will also have to do stupid work that I did not sign up for, tree planting and beach restoration, I signed up for hiking in the San Bernardino National Forest and doing trail work and chainsawing stuff. I now have to work to complete my hours necessary with groups of unruly teenagers in LA most of whom have the job with LACC (our parent company, a non-profit) because they have been convicted of crimes and need a job that can give them skills they might be able to use. Luckily I will be pretty far from gang activity in Malibu and living near the beach might be cool, but it is not what I signed up for. So I am dissapointed and I hope in the future if I do Peace Corp or something I don't get screwed and sent to Bulgaria.
